Hessa Al Obaidli is a Sharjah-based Emirati designer whose interest in fashion design rooted from her talented mother’s influence. From the age of 10, Hessa took vast interest in watching her mother designing clothing with her own creative elements for her young daughters. Hessa’s earliest memories include gaining core inspiration from her mother’s creations, from which she started to sketch and stitch cloths for her dolls. She developed her taste for rich fabrics and appreciation for detail and quality in the craftsmanship. Hessa’s mother noticed her daughter’s passion for fashion design, and the creativity she absorved from her designing and helped to develop her instinctive gift. Years later Hessa Al Obaidli , re-ignited her thirst for design by creating unique Abaya’s for herself. "I began to notice that wherever I go, women would constantly ask me who my Abaya designer was” says Hessa. Through repeated requests, she started creating bespoke designs for relatives and close friends. The designs were so well received that with support from these friends and family, she finally decided to expand her business and take it to the next level. Proud of her Islamic heritage, her design vision included a contemporary take on the traditional dress. She started using creative cuts and techniques, along with flowing fabrics like crepe, georgette and chiffon, along with embroidery and embellishments, taking her ‘Abaya’ designs into a whole new fusion form. She aimed to meet the needs of modest women who were looking for unique and sophisticated Abaya designs. "I chose HESSEH as a brand name and fashion label for my business, because firstly it refers to my name with an artistic touch, and secondly it describes my Abaya designs that are stunning, creative and completely different." says Hessa
